The truck belonged to a man who had been in the ground eleven days. The keys were still over the visor. Four kids took it out past the water tower because that is what you do at seventeen when somebody dies and nobody will explain it to you.
The radio came on by itself somewhere past the second cattle gate. The preacher knew their names. He worked them into the sermon like scripture.
